Farewell 2010 :(

So the end of Crimbo limbo week brings the end of 2010, and what a truly fantastic year it has given me!

At the start I got my nickname - Joe The Player Sayer - given to me by a good friend as he used it to try and convince someone I was the county darts champion for my age group :D Then came rumours and a stupidly short haircut lol :S One of the best weeks of the year came just before Easter on the geography trip Bangor, north Wales... such an enjoyable time was had by all with many funny moments :D

Then with exam season out the way it was summer! Waka Waka fever came over at the end of Year 12 ;) and then another brilliant week - the music tour in Barcelona, Spain. I find it really hard to choose my favourite of the two residentials, so I'm not going to! I'll just remember them as two fantastic weeks for their different reasons xD Then it was my birthday! One of the best birthdays I've had, although the weather wasn't what you'd hope for in August, especially for a day at the beach lol ;)

Year 13 saw the departure of several good friends and big changes at school... many birthday partys and film nights have been had this year, and lots came at once in October so that made for a good autumn :) Then December brought snow! It actually came in the build up to Christmas for once instead of an irrelevant time like March lol... The last week of term is always a busy one music wise, packed with final rehearsals for the Christmas concerts which is always good fun. Over the festive period I lost my voice for several days which wasn't the most convenient of things... but it has come back just in time for the New Year celebrations (Y)

And that brings us right up to date to Crimbo limbo (that lazy week between Christmas Day and New Year's Day - I didn't just make it up!) I'm sure some people will be welcoming the New Year and will be glad to see the back of 2010 for whatever reasons, but I'll be celebrating the terrific year that has gone by... many new friends have been made this year and all 2011 currently seems to offer is having to say goodbye to them as we go off to uni, plus lots of exams! :/ Oh well... I guess all that's left to say is...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

My 2010 Top 40

Well on the radio there is of course the chart show with the top 40 tracks every week, but lately they've been doing people's own top 40, so I thought I'd share mine...

Firstly though, my top tips for 2011 are:

AdeleRolling In The Deep (great artist)
Bruno MarsGrenade (another great artist)
Christian TV - When She Turns 18 (if you're feeling a bit of a rebel)
Martin Solveig & Dragonette - Hello (very, very, very catchy!)
Nero - Me And You (best played loud, not keen on the video)

But anyway... the top 40 list isn't it any order of  preference - I couldn't possibly make a final decision like that! - so here they are:

Christmas Eve

1 day 'til Christmas!!!...

...well, less than that to be precise ^^ It's really really cold, I've properly lost my voice (probably from all that singing last week in three concerts and two rehearsals), but it's Christmas!!!

It's Christmas Eve, which is when I usually save all my present wrapping for, which some may think a bit last minute, but it's what I do every year as I have a weird skill of being able to wrap gifts well whereas lots of people complain about it! So I'll do that later whilst watching my favourite festive film 'The Santa Clause' I think xD Right now though I'm listening to a playlist of a load of Christmas tracks and my favourite songs of 2010 :)

So I will leave you with a very important website for this day - the official NORAD Santa tracker ;) http://www.noradsanta.org/en/index.html

Enjoy your Christmas :D Joe xxx

Christmas Snow

2 days 'til Christmas!!!...

...I think after all the snow we've had recently, it would be a great shame not see any on Christmas Eve/Day when it's actually Christmas! I know lots of people moan because it ruins their plans, and it has disrupted plans of my own, but come on! It does feel much more Christmassy with the snow, and I'd much prefer it to this wet and windy weather we're going to have for the next few months anyway :/
But for your enjoyment below is a nice cover of Winter Wonderland by Jason Mraz :)

Speaking of snow and cold weather... last night the BBC weatherman concluded his forecast with the chilling analogy: "Tomorrow (today) will be so cold, it will feel like your face is being stripped of skin." Scary stuff there. God bless us all, and let's hope we survive the bitterness and actually reach Christmas :O

Christmas Films

3 days 'til Christmas!!!...

...but the build-up has been put on hold today as it is my brother's birthday. Most annoying it is keep getting visitors whilst trying to get my homework done, and having to tell them he's not in :P But oh well... Anyway, here are some of my favourite festive films (off the top of my head) which I recommend for the season :)

The Santa Clause (the first one, numbers two and three arent so good lol)
Christmas with the Kranks
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Love Actually
Elf

My favourite as a child was Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer the movie, which I would watch over and over and over again like kids do and never get bored xD

How to cure hiccups…

Last week a friend of mine suddenly came over with a bout of hiccups… so to solve the problem I quickly Googled  a cure and found some rather weird solutions…
The Gag Method
  1. Go into your bathroom, and open the lid on the toilet.
  2. Stick your finger down your throat and make yourself gag.
  3. Continue until you REALLY gag, even throwing up if you have to.
  4. After you throw up, or have a REALLY good gag, no more hiccups! Works EVERY time!

A funny take on The Apprentice

Earlier this evening this video was brought to my attention, and I have to say I was in tears (of laughter) by the end, so I though I'd share the joy... :)

Hope it made you laugh too, night night... :)

    Robbery essentials: Armless driver? Check.

A funny article entitled: "GETAWAY DRIVER WITH NO ARMS IN 100MPH CHASE"

Yes you read that correctly! This isn't a recent event, but something ripped out a newspaper I found when tidying my room at the weekend. "A driver with no arms led police on a 100mph chase through east London after a £175,000 raid on a jewellery store. John Smith, 18, whose limbs end below his elbows, was designated driver for the robbery despite needing someone to change gears for him. He managed to keep control of the Ford Focus for 30 miles even though he was unable to hold the steering wheel as he and his three friends fled from the raid.

"Smith, who cannot dress himself and lives with his mother, eventually ended the high-speed pursuit along the A2 when the getaway car crashed, but he continued to drive the heavily damaged vehicle until the police forced the car against a wall to stop." Now I don't plan on carrying out any robberies in my life, but if I was going to I would not designate the role of getaway driver to a friend with no arms!.. common sense? Haha.

Now back to homework... I do find Owl City's Ocean Eyes album relaxing to listen to when working, even if the first line of the first track is 'Take a long hard look in your textbook' lol :) Toodle pip!

    I'm officially a good boy!

Last year, @officialsanta (Father Christmas' REAL Twitter account!) put me on his naughty list :( but this year I have been put on the nice list!!! Hooray! Plus I thanked @officialsanta and he replied xD wow I feel special!

Anyways, here is a cartoon I found by someone who has obviously stolen my identity (clicking on the picture will make it bigger)...

René La Taupe - Mignon Mignon

This is currently the number 1 song in France, by René the Mole, and has been at the top spot for the last 4 weeks! The lyrics and video are very strange and nothing like the sort of thing you would hear over here! :D

It probably won't make much sense, so I've put the lyrics through a translator, and although this means some bits don't make complete sense you'll definitely get the general gist no problem!

    Wednesday 29 September 2010

Sayer - like layer, but with an S.

That's what I'll be saying from now on when asked how to spell my surname, thanks to the boy in year 7 where I have my work experience. Seriously, that was the most productive thing he came up with all lesson. The annoying kid refused to do anything. Oh but he quite happily pointed out to his classmates the drawing of a "man's parts" on a stool. Yet he wouldn't tell me how a sperm cell is specialised and adapted for its function (that was the work by the way, not me trying to link his discovery of the reproductive organs diagram back into biology!). Eventually I did get the words 'squiggly line' out of him... to everyone else that would be a tail ;)

Now in the last post I promised to have a moan, so I will. Yesterday morning at 07:48.25 I stepped up on to platform 4 behind a man just in front of me. Standing at the doors of the train was the conductor, who smiled and wished us a good morning. But despite us being two metres away from the train, the conductor closed the doors and the 07:49.00 to St Pancras International left half a minute early. Half a minute where me and this other man could have got the train. But no, instead I had to wait half an hour for the next train and was subsequently late for school :P

    Not the drive I wanted...

Before I start, please forgive the terrible pun that will become apparent shortly! So I was hoping the hundreds of pounds I earnt working in the summer could go towards driving lessons, however this is no longer going to happen.... Instead of learning to 'drive' a car, I am going to have to get a new laptop (which contains a hard 'drive'! ...warned you it was awful :P) to finally replace my dying computer. Yes, I'll be swapping a machine with 6 windows for a machine with Windows 7 (oooh I'm on a roll ;) haha) Oh well, it's a good job you were teaching me, an XP user, the basics of Windows 7 at school last week Anna ;)

But enough of that (before I start talking about CD 'drives', and linking RPM to RAM), here's an awesome song by Axis of Awesome - their 2010 version of  the 4 Chord song, performed on Scott Mills' Radio 1 show in August :) Toodle pip!

Don't go Soul Sister, stay the night!

Just had a spooky experience at a friends house, sorting out their pets whilst away for the weekend. Turned up and half the lights were on (they weren't last night!)... so I bravely crept in to hear someone laughing :/ went into the kitchen, and it's just Alan Carr on the radio... I hope you can appreciate how freaky that was! ;) But that radio wasn't on earlier either, dun dun duh! :O

But back to the topic in hand... is it me or does the introduction to James Blunt's new single 'Stay The Night' sound remarkably like the intro to Train's 'Hey, Soul Sister'??? That was my first thought the instant I heard it anyway. Also, the chorus reminded me a little of the chorus in 'Please Don't Let Me Go' by Olly Murs. Is this Mr Blunt's new tactic to top the charts? haha ;) and that reminds me of when a jet-lagged guest on Radio 1 earlier said 'chopping the tarts' instead of topping the charts, that was funny xD

    Alien chavs in an ambulance

Just had a little fright... I still have this darn headache and came over all hot just now so had a lay down, and drifted off into a nap. I was woken by a loud electronic voice saying:

"STAND WELL CLEAR, VEHICLE REVERSING. STAND WELL CLEAR, VEHICLE REVERSING."

Now as I was waking up I didn't really know where I was, so for a split second I thought I might be laying in the middle of a road about to be run over! Either that or aliens were invading and just parking their UFO ^^

Die Antwoord - Enter The Ninja

Heyyy all... I blog to you with a headache and sore throat, on top of severe tiredness :( But oh well I sholdier on ;) and present to you, this...

Die Antwoord - Enter The Ninja. It's the song everyone has an opinion on. Very different opinions. If you haven't heard it then prepare yourself. I first heard it back at the start of August, but tonight for the first time I watched the video (Oooh an advert for the new series of The Apprentice has come on, exciting!) anyway, that video!..

    A Poke at the Pope

I understand that this is a big thing for Catholics, but Pope-mania is starting to annoy me now, although at least it creates the perfect opportunity to blog about it! With public opinion divided on his visit, I have decided to have a joke at his expense, but as well as taking the pee I might also moan about what annoys me!

    Work Experience

So today I had my first Wednesday afternoon of work experience, and it was interesting to say the least... but that's what I was expecting! But I thought I'd share some of the highlights memorable moments that occurred.

I'm not going to post the exact name of the school, but let's just say it contains the more 'challenging' kids of Thanet ;) My gosh do the staff have their work cut out there... the constant swearing, music, general interrupting... but hey, luckily I didn't get stabbed! That was my primary concern!

    Mario...

...not just a fun, fictional video game character from Nintendo! First blog post, and I warn you now, it's not a happy one! Two people annoyed me at lunch and both were unecessary instances. After holding back at the time, I am now going to let off some steam!

    Hello!

Fancy seeing you here! This is my new blog, and soon I'll be posting away!

But just to tease you in the mean time, let me tell you that the first will be about someone very close to our hearts ;) Who could it be???
