The End of Harry Potter

The final Harry Potter movie - Deathly Hallows Part 2 - has been released, and I was one of the first to see it :D

I went to see the Deathly Hallows Double Bill (Parts 1 and 2 back-to-back) and it was the most excited I have been for the cinema since seeing the first Harry Potter back in 2001. Part 1 started at about half 9 on Thursday night, which was the third time I had seen it at the cinema, before Part 2 in 3D just after midnight...

The atmosphere in the cinema was great... I can't really describe it, you had to be there! But it was brilliant being there with other fans of the franchise. Because of the many times Part 1 had been seen, people were rather sleepy by the end, but everyone just enjoyed it and was laughing throughout :D

If you haven't seen it yet, here are the trailers to wet your appetite...

But now what? No more Potter :/ Ah well, I think they're all going to be re-released in 3D supposedly :D

Andrew Gold

It emerged at the weekend that singer Andrew Gold had died... well all I knew him for was this song, which is rather fitting I think what with leaving school... Enjoy!

Osama Bin Laden

Is dead!!

Unfortunately my 'Where's Wally?' styled 'Where's Bin Laden' book is now a bit out of date :/

This was one of those moments when you log on to Twitter, see a name in the trending topics list and can guess immediately what's happened...

But talking of Twitter, one guy living in Abbottabad was providing updates of the night's events without knowing it!

There are also many conspiracies... was his capture linked to Apple? Two weeks ago it came out they could track iPhone locations. Or perhaps it's due to the PlayStation Network outage? Name and addresses were stolen... maybe Bin Laden had an iPhone and/or PS3?! :-D
This was another theory I saw on Twitter:
"Osama Bin Laden has 13 letters in his name. Barack Obama recently watched Friday da 13th. Friday was 3 days ago.3+13= sweet 16. #Conspiracy"
His death was also on the same date as that of Lord Voldemort! Perhaps, after being hosted by Professor Quirrel, Voldemort took to hiding in the back of Bin Laden's turban? It's a possibility ;-)

Something silly about the whole thing though was a reporter on Sky News asking Ed Milliband if Bin Laden's killing had been timed to coincide with the Royal wedding :S How could the two possibily be related??

Ta ta...

The Royal Wedding ♔

So yesterday, as I'm sure you don't need telling, it was the royal wedding... and what a good day of Britishness it was :D Well I thought so anyway... Lots of fun and people enjoying themselves, giving the country something to :) about!

Friday 8 April 2011

Phew!

Well, what a looong week! Ive been busy busy busy and its been tiring, but its been enjoyable also and now its the Easter holidays :D

So ongoing throughout the week have been biology and physics ISAs which require loads of work :/ but on the plus side there has been lots of music too :D On Tuesday the concert with a choir from the University of Southampton which was good fun... then on Wednsayday after 6 hours of biology at school I had to rush off for wind band rehearsal and concert which couldn't have gone any better! We performed The Incredibles theme and a James Bond medley, and we haven't played them better than that :D Every tiny detail was spot on, our conductor had a big grin particularly throughout the James Bond piece and the audience seemed to love it! On Thursday as the usual jazz band rehearsal, and today the wind band performed the same pieces in the final assembly :)

Mr Sayer and the zombies

Yesterday my biology teacher had to leave for a meeting half way through the lesson, and for experience in my future career, left me in charge :D This involved me sitting comfortably on the cushioned stool at the teachers desk, enjoying a lovely read of his big folder of answer papers (which btw he entrusted me with), whilst the my class got on with the question sheet :P

So I did my best to make sure they got on with the work - had a walk round to check how they were doing, nearly had to confiscate a phone, and fingers on lips almost had to be enforced at one point XD oh and when i rejected one boys request to go 15 mins early he swore so he got sent to stand outside in the corridor lol... but i definitely did not abuse my power by asking one person to stand up and do a monkey impression!.... so it was all good fun, and then I went over the answers, reminded them of the homework for next lesson (which even I still need to do), and kindly dismissed the class 5 minutes early :D

Charlie Sheen

Man of the moment, Charlie Sheen :D These are my favourite quotes of his:

"If you borrowed my brain for five seconds, you’d be like, "Dude! Can’t handle it, unplug this bastard!""
"I was banging seven-gram rocks, because that’s how I roll. I have one speed, I have one gear: Go."
"I'm on a drug, it’s called Charlie Sheen. It’s not available because if you try it you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body."
"I'm tired of pretending I'm not special. I'm tired of pretending I'm not a total bitchin' rock star from Mars."
"I'm different. I have a different constitution, I have a different brain, I have a different heart. I got tiger blood, man. Dying's for fools, dying's for amateurs."
"Trolls will suffer from Sheeness-envy."
"Can’t is the cancer of happening."
"Clearly I have defeated this earthworm with my words - imagine what I would have done with my fire breathing fists."
"I'm not bi-polar, I'm bi-winning."

Here is a lovely cartoon too...

In continuation...

Well its been pretty much the same as last weekend... Saturday was sunny and Sunday is rather cloudy, and talking of the climate, I'm feeling a bit under-the-weather as I was last week :/ However, a couple of continuations of previous posts... The jazz concert last week - there has been a review on the interweb :O the saxophones choreography was praised ^^ and our conductor was weirdly described as 'tireless' ...it was only one concert, not really tiring :S It also bigs up that Alice girl :P but talking of being tired...

Radio 1s longestest ever show managed to raise an astonishing £2.5million :O especially when the total was just £1.2million with 4 hours to go... but perhaps this was helped by Fearne Cotton promising to do her show in a swimming costume if they reached the £2m mark :S Anyway what I loved about the whole thing was all the randomness and special guests and general hilarity :D For example, Katy Perry turned up unplanned at the studio 1.30 on Friday morning to wish them well, and brought an array of bizarre gifts, including tampons... and one of my favourite parts was this - not only performed at 6 in the morning, but also after 47 hours of being on air! Why Dev (the one on air bass guitar) is wearing a hospital gown thing I don't know lol... In total I watched/listened for about 30 of the 52 hour marathon :P But did of course donate...

And finally... the latest YouTube "sensation" - the sensationally bad Rebecca Black. Well to be fair, its more the song than her... Remember my blog about walking through the park and communicating with squirrels?? Well whilst this was taking place, I was listening to the radio on my ipod, and at that very same time they were taking the mick out of her song 'Friday'... a few days later and after forgetting about it, it goes viral and now everyone in the world knows and there is no escape! D: There is so much wrong with it! The lyrics... the creepy guy who appears in the middle and is 30 years older than all the kids in the video... the whole production! :S hi-de-ous. I shall say no more...

Now for biology and psychology essays... Cheery-byes! Joe xxx

Squirrel whisperer

I am a squirrel whisperer.

I am not going mad like Charlie Sheen... it's true!

I had choir after school today as I usually do on Tuesday's, and today it finished a bit early... so instead of waiting at the station for aaages I walked a longer route to pass some time, a route that took me through a park. Here there were (that's a lot of ere's!) squirrels. One was behind a fence, and as I walked past this fence I stopped to watch. Then a staring contest took place between us. I'm not quite sure for how long... 10 seconds? 30 seconds? a whole minute? It seemed like forever... Perhaps he (or she) was reading my mind? Perhaps I was subconsciously communicating with him (or her)?? :O ...the squirrel then started to make its way towards me. I stayed still, continuing to stare... closer and closer he came... closer and closer!!!... but then noticed someone else approaching down the path and ran off :( Apologies for the anticlimax, but who knows what the squirrel would have done next?!? ;)

Anyhow, my day was quite good before this too... the geography class went into the lesson prending to have no knowledge whatsoever of an earthquake in Japan, which managed to confuse the teacher :D ...and then in psychology, our teacher came out with her own Freudian slip.... the word 'willy' making an appearance mid-sentence lol

And on that note, I shall say cheerio! Joe xxx

You CAN teach an old dog new tricks

I was going to blog earlier this week but since my interview I have been absolutely shattered! I don't remember being so tired. Ever :S I went to bed at 9 and had to convince my mum I wasn't ill, just tired! But here I am with Charlie (our dog) waiting for fish and chips to arrive. The old lady that had him before us couldn't play with him because of her age, so he has no idea what to do when presented with a toy :/ However, slowly but surely he is learning new things! For example, we have taught him to hold out his paw when told so (which may not sound like much, but before he just didnt do anything apart from 'sit' lol, and its such a fun little trick to do!) ...and also, when I was at the door the other day, he went to go and get someone to let me in when only he heard my knock :D I do now though have dog hair all over my bed :/

Red noses, bowling & choo choo trains

Firstly an update on last night's dinner as cooked by dad... it was not the disaster I feared! XD I dared to walk the dog whilst the pizza was being cooked but did give a few instructions before hand lol

As I mentioned in my last post, yesterday I was in Sainsbury's, and I bought a Red Nose for the upcoming Comic Relief. Now you may know that there are three different noses to choose from with the most ridiculous names - my current Twitter profile picture for example has a Red Nose Twibbon featuring 'Chucklechomp'. The second nose is 'Honkus', but in the end I decided upon getting 'Captain Conk'. However, this was only because I considered this the least ugly of the three :S And whatever happened to the little money collecting box they came in? Plus you didn't just get a nose for your pound , but chocolate, stickers and facepaints too! This year you just get a bit of paper with a few jokes on :( Ah well...

Halfterm is never much of a break!

Ok, I lie... it is! There's always lots of work to do, but that usually gets done on the day before we go back and in that first week too :P meaning the holiday can be enjoyed :)

This halfterm I have the cinema, birthdays and film nights to enjoy, as well as bowling :) although we don't call it bowling, we use the term 'AMFing it up' XD But amongst all this I will try and do some work, however I find it all to easy to just to sit around and let time pass by...

I have realised that my blog does not feature much opinion on things that are going on in the word anymore, so in future posts I will try and incorporate that into them, perhaps stimulate a bit of debate!

Now I shall leave you with a couple of songs which I very much like at the moment >>> Animal by Neon Trees, and Young Blood by The Naked and Famous - who I like very much :) in fact I shall also recommend Punching In A Dream by them too, which is perhaps even better (in my opinion) :)

Cheerio! Joe xxx

A Hot Mess

Can't believe I haven't posted this before :O one of my favourite songs at the moment, love it!
Hot Mess by Chromeo and featuring her off of La Roux - putting the 80s into 2011! :)

And on another musical note it's the BRIT Awards tonight... love watching that also :)

Something else though - I've heard of the horrible 'Bieber Fever' illness before, but wtf is a Belieber?! No. Just no. No, no, no. Get out. Ahhh, what a cheery comment to finish with! How about saying I'm now off to nom on some spaghetti bolognese :) There, much better! Toodle pip... Joe xxx

P.S reading back through this... the 'musical note' pun was not intended ;)

Monday 14 February 2011

A nice note

Ok so I had a very good weekend - great party Friday night and on Saturday had a good evening at friends and we went for a nice dog walk to the beach :) Then Sunday was just spent relaxing, plus I had lie in after only getting a total of 6 hours sleep since Thursday... does anyone count how many hours sleep they get each night, or am I just odd? :S

Today lessons weren't too bad at school, and rehearsal for Wind band was really good... our music teacher is very competitve and was annoyed that our rivals at the other grammar school in the area keep getting chosen as 'house band' for the Isle's annual School Prom...  so instead of taking our choir like we usually do, the Wind band are attending instead and are going all-out to show our band is far better in an attempt to get the gig next year :P

But as well as this, the choir have a concert coming up with another choir from Southampton, plus the Jazz band have stuff happening including the possibility of playing at the opening of the Turner Centre art museum thingy :) Tomorrow though, an actual RAF band - one of the best bands in the country and well known worldwide - are coming into to school to put on a mini-concert for us which should be great :D

But okay okay too much music I'm sensing, but I can't help being excited :D Today I really had an appetite for a McFlurry, but upon arrival at McDonalds, the ice cream machine was broken... but I have tweeted McDonalds HQ in America to rectify this problem at my local branch ASAP! XD I just had a lovely home-made chicken pie though nom nom.

Im going to put the happiness on hold now though, because I know this is dragging, but I need to have a moan... hope to see you again in a second!...

A not-so-nice note

You may remember Mario (in fact it was exactly 5 months ago today I originally blogged about him!)... Warning: this post contains strong language :S

Ok, so I had jokingly mocked his greediness (without his knowing - bitchy I know :P) earlier during lunch... then later on it is with great sadness I report that I was bullied :( I know! Who would be so mean? But anyway... at the same time as this bullying, I casually said to Mario in a cheery tone "Scoose Mario" (written how it was pronounced, and obviously I used his real name) and replied with "Ta" when he moved out the way...

But he did not like this... I got some snidey comment telling me I should have said "Excuse me please, Mario". I complained that that there was nothing wrong with my friendly, informal request given the causal and friendly environment we were suppsoedly in... obviously I wouldn't use that language to the Queen!  Now I specifically said this is an annoyed voice to get the point across... he then went around saying I was pissed off.

I was not pissed off. The 'bullying' was a bit of fun. This did not anger me. He alone merely annoyed (not quite pissed) me with his silly comment. I am calm now, and listening to some top new music which I may recommend in a post in the near future... plus tonight on Radio 1 they will be exclusively playing some of Noah and The Whale's upcoming album *cough*Grace*cough* XD

Cheerio! Joe xxx

P.S I gather today is meant to be special or something, so errr, Happy Monday! :) x

Sunday 6 February 2011

:)

That title sums up my mood today! (for those unsure, it is a happy face!)

Continuing off the back of last night which was so much fun... a great birthday meal with a load of friends, I haven't laughed so much in ages :D hilarious times and one of the best evenings of recent months (Y) Since staring 6th form we haven't really had too many occasions where we've all been in the same place at the same time, and also got to catch up with a few people who left school and so haven't seen for a year or so... all good fun!

And then there's this fantastic weather! You're probably thinking "but it's cloudy, grey and windy"...however there's nothing wrong with a bit of breeze and I do like the whole wrapping up warm thing :)

So today I'm just going to do a bit of work but mostly some general nothingness and relaxing before another week at school, which a am looking forward to because now exams are over I can concentrate properly on band and choir and all things musical again... Jazz Band was brilliant last week and we have a few gigs and concerts coming up which I am looking forward to :) There we are then, hope everyone's enjoying their weekend as well...

Cheery bye! Joe xxx

Return of the blogger (Part 2)

Every time I go to write blogger, I always type blooger :S

Anyway, I said before that I'd continue telling you about my Friday, but that is so last week, and although there were things I was going to talk about I'm moving on... exams are over!!!! for now... I think psychology and geography went well, general and geo retake alright, physics and biology not so good... but we shall see come what March! :S

Oh my god I just remembered it's February :O I don't have a calendar this year :( but that month went quick! Today was a long day, but still pretty fun... choir was a laugh as always, Don't Stop The Music by Rihanna today - sounded rather good and was all great fun :D Then I had to wait around for an open evening which didn't really involve much, but what I like about them is as well as having a job to do, you do get to socialise and have a laugh with people you've never met before :) beats sitting around in doors (Y)

We have a dog!!!! Charlie - which is a very imaginative name for a Cavalier King Charles (it wasn't us who named him lol) :P he is ever so nice though XD I might put a picture up at some point... Can't think of anything else right now, so goodnight one and all :)

Return of the blogger (Part 1)

Haven't blogged in ages :/ a week without internet and exams to blame... But what a long and tiring week! Biology exam... the non-cyclic photophosphorylation reduction of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate amongst other delights, plus psychology this morning... theory after theory after theory :/ I think to come out and say it went well, considering my grades at AS were D and E (before retakes), can only be a good thing! And to finish the current exam season, it's geography next week! *sarcastic cheery tone*

Which brings me on nicely to a moan. Contemporary challenges and conflicts. Don't get me wrong, geography has always been a favourite subject of mine, but this must be THE most tedious topic ever :O and to make things worse we have a room change which means sitting around one big table and actually being involved in the lesson... No longer can I chat and daydream away the hour at the back of class :(

Anyway... I'm getting bored of writing a blog now ...how honest of me! :P (and hence the title 'Part 1'). I'll be back soon though to tell you more about my day today. Now go and listen to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpadYhXHgwA, and have you heard Bruno Mars' album? To summarise - Superdocious.

Chow :) Joe xxx

Sayer's Sunday Specials

Some music for this fine Sunday afternoon... From Toy Story 3, everyone can benefit from this in their life - "You've Got a Friend in Me (Para El Buzz Espanol)" :D ...soundtracks (Y)

Ooh and listen to this too :)

...now lunch, then more revision, and Twitter! on which earlier I annoyed a Liverpool fan :D Joe xxx

Saturday 8 January 2011

Dog Days Are Over??..

...they're only just beginning.

My Mum and brothers want a dog. My Dad and I really question the practicality of getting one :S My house is on the verge of becoming a menagerie. Ok, perhaps not quite :P But two rabbits, two fish, two brothers and now, possibly, a dog. Excuse the play on words, but 'Dog Days Are Over' as in the Florence & The Machine song - love it! It reminds me of summer :)

This week I have had three very different songs in my head. Wednesday - a selection of songs from the Bugsy Malone soundtrack, why? I really don't know lol... Thursday - 'Windmills of Your Mind' by Noel Harrison, probably as it's on an advert for Sky... Friday - 'Mr. Blue Sky' by E.L.O. but there's nothing wrong with that because it was nice and cheery :D Now I listen to my new Hoosiers album (again) from Anna... merci beaucoup!

Some things that annoyed me yesterday - South Korea burying 1 million pigs alive. There's a foot and mouth outbreak there and it's seen as the easy option instead of vaccinating the animals :S I'm not a vegetarian, but that is just ridiculous. Then Kenneth Tong caused an uproar on Twitter. The (much hated) Big Brother contestant promoting size zero magic pills, now the whole world of Twitter from celebrities to the public have turned against him :D

This is going to sound very random, but I have just this very moment discovered from Lord Voldemort that a future episode of Glee will be based around the music of Justin Beiber. Oh dear God :/ But this does demonstrate the wonders of Twitter ;D Now I really should do some more revision... soon... hmmm... Exams! Eeek :O

Tuesday 4 January 2011

Hello 2011!

Ok, so I was pessimistic about 2011 last week... but it's growing on me :) I saw in the new year with great fun, and now I'm ready to get back to school (N) and see everyone again (Y)!

Aside from the goodbye's, exams and other various glitches that are bound to crop up... there'll be more hello's :) many party's including my own 18th :) plus who knows what other adventures and good times await?? :O

That's on a social scale, but entertainment-wise, I have films such as Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Harry Potter 7 Part 2 and Johnny English 2 all to look forward :D Then there's music... last year brought us (whether you liked it or not!) Waka Waka by Shakira, Stereo Love by Edward Maya and Replay by Iyaz... haha , but aside from the cheesey but catchy ones there are a number of artists I look forward to hearing from this coming year. Matt Cardle for instance... ok I was joking :P ...X Factor winners *rolls eyes* ;D
